Are you ready for the Expo?

From Thursday, September 27 until Sunday, September 30, the small island of Cyprus will act as a ‘filoxenos topos’, a hospitable place, in welcoming hundreds of young musicians, cultural operators and music professionals from EU Member States and the Arab world, in a true and youthful Euro-Mediterranean celebration of music and culture. The Opening Ceremony held on Friday, September 28 at ‘Platia Iroon’ (Heroes Square) will be addressed by the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, Mrs Androulla Vassiliou.

From classical (Western and Arabic) music to rock, ethnic, jazz, hip–hop and reggae, there are more than 100 artists invited to present something for everyone’s musical taste during this Euro-Mediterranean celebration of music. Parallel with the concerts, a symposium and workshops will also be held, featuring distinguished guests from all the countries of the League of Arab States and the European Union. The workshops will be open to the general public.

Behind the scenes, the Expo will also host over 100 cultural managers, who will work together over the four days to devise innovative strategies that facilitate the development of young people through music in the Euro-Med region.

Part of the Expo will also be a music market, held on Sunday September 30 at the Limassol Municipal Garden, where audiovisual material from various youth and music organisations from all over the Mediterranean will be exhibited.
